3 Tips For Work/Life Sanity: Automate, Delegate, Let Go - Part 3

Week Three:
Let Go

I have coached hundreds of professional women from a wide variety of backgrounds. One of the most common denominators amongst these women is a constant feeling of being off balance and a desire for more ease and less frustration in their daily lives.

Can you relate?! I thought so!

To help you immediately get more work/life sanity, I’ve developed a three-part exercise. This exercise is titled: Automate, Delegate, Let Go. Each step allows you to remove items from that never-ending to do list. The idea being, of course, the fewer things you have to do, the easier your life will be to manage.

Once you eliminate these “time stealers”, you’ll have more time and energy to focus on what’s really important to you – in both your personal and professional life.

Watch for any feelings of resistance that pop up as you read these tips. To truly have more ease and less frustration, you’re going to have to give up some control. Don’t let an unnecessary need to hang on prevent you from experiencing work/life balance.

Tip # 3: Let Go
We all have fallen into the trap of a continuing to do things just because we’ve always done them in the past. But when we really think about it and ask ourselves, why are we doing this? We realize it is safe to let some things go.

You can let go of tasks in both your work and personal life. Here are some examples:

Examples of Letting Go - Work:
- Let go perfectionism
- Let go of a fear of being wrong
- Let go of your tendency to say yes every time you’re asked to volunteer on a project

Examples of Letting Go - Personal:
- Let go of subscriptions to magazines you no longer read
- Let go of cutting coupons to save a few cents on groceries
- Let go of an unhealthy relationship

If you think hard and are honest with yourself, I bet you can identify at least one thing to let go of at work and one thing to let go of in your personal life. Right now, take 60 seconds to identify one thing you will let go of at work and one thing you will let go of at home.

Once you identify your items, make plans to implement your letting go tasks this week.

I know you can do it! Next week, I’ll recap this month’s three-part exercise: Automate, Delegate, Let Go!

Until next week…
To Your Continued Success,
Maret
