More On The Basics
This week we continue the wardrobe clean out by reviewing one of the most essential items in any woman’s closet, “the black pant”. Some argue that you can’t have enough and to a large extent, I agree. The most important thing is to make sure every pair in your closet look good on you. Let’s explore how to make this wardrobe staple work…
There are many styles of black pants. Cropped short, cut long, classic cut, wide leg, boot leg and the skinny pant. The way to choose which one is right for you is to do the following….first you must try all pants on before buying them. What looks great on the hanger or mannequin may not look great on you. Different fabrics can also influence the fit with tweeds adding some bulk while linen in light. Next, decide what you will wear with them the most. For example, if you plan to wear with a big bulky sweater primarily then a streamlined, tailored fit is best to even out the bulk.
Black pants go with everything. From t-shirts to sweaters to halter tops and designer blouses. You can wear them for work, play and an evening out. The trick is what you put with them on top and the bottom. If you are going to wear heals, be sure to have your pants tailored with the shoes on so they are longer in length. The same is true with flats as there is nothing worse than pants that drag on the ground.
My suggestion is to have several pairs in different cuts, fabrics and styles in your closet. You will get great use out of all of them so it’s worth the splurge. Choose a quality brand that you trust because these babies are gone to be around for a long time.
Enjoy building up your wardrobe and watching your confidence soar!
Best-
Andrea
