How Can Massage Help?
When the situations of life make it more of a challenge to be steady in those feelings of empowerment or happiness, or joy, I need to get a little help. That is where support of others comes in. This support can be in the form of encouragement, or actual physical support from outside of us, such as the course of action of getting a massage.
The idea of a massage came to me as I wanted to decrease my levels of stress. I meditate, and this is one gift I give to myself to make me healthier and less stressed. My life has some challenges right now that have made me feel my stress in the form of anxiety. I am learning to use Emotional Freedom Technique, and I use diaphragmatic breathing. These are all things that I do for myself.
The only work on my end that I have to do with a massage is to make the appointment and show up. Massage can really does make one feel better, physically as well as emotionally. Once you are receiving your massage, you can fully move into the place of letting everything else go, for you are there for the duration, with nothing else to do. You have no where to go, and you can fully sink in to the relaxation that is in store for you.
It lets me feel a deep relaxation; this is much better than even sleep. It is helpful for people who feel depressed, because massage will help with decreasing depression. You will feel less anxiety. It is good for you, helps improve your immune system, increases the flow of endorphins, which are the neurotransmitters that can make you feel good and decrease pain. Best yet, massage helps you to really connect to your body.
The big bonus for those of us in midlife is that it helps to keep us aware of our body in a very positive way by reconnecting to our body. There are some very definite changes that occur within our body at this time of our life. The more that we do to positively impact one area of our body, such as the calming effects of massage, these positive effects resonate to other areas, such as our mind. We know that this is true when we agree with the fact that our body and mind are inseparable.
Therefore, when I take care of my body, it can only help other areas. And, what a pleasant way to help myself! When will you schedule your massage?
Peacefully yours,
Lorraine
