Feel Better About Yourself
Get an inner makeover and feel better about yourself. Wouldn’t it be nice to look like one of the “deal or no deal” girls or, that one person you admire from afar? Genetics can play a major part in how we look physically. Do big hips, skinny legs, bad eye sight, bulgy tummy’s run in your family? If so, then take the time to take a realistic view of what you can actually achieve in your journey to looking better. Embrace the beauty you do have and feel good about who you are.
Stop being your own worst critic! Watch for negative self-talk.. “Replace critical thoughts, such as ‘my disgusting, fat thighs,’ with something more neutral, such as ‘my strong powering legs,” or I hate these glasses” with “these glasses make me look quite intelligent” etc. Consciously think of why you are desirable to other people—perhaps because they respect your competence or because you are warm and interesting. In the long run, these characteristics are more important to attraction than physical looks.”
A Challenge: Pay yourself a dollar each time you say something critical about yourself for a month in order to monitor your negative feelings towards yourself. This will help you understand a little bit more about how you feel about yourself and help you redirect your focus to giving yourself more positive comments. Feel free to ask a close friend to join you in this challenge and you can help each other replace the negative comments with positive ones. Hopefully, by the end of the month you will learn to like yourself a little bit more. At the end of the month treat yourselves to something that will bring a smile to your faces and toast to a start of positive self worth.
Until next week, have a wonderful day.
