Metallics–How To Do It Right
The primary rule for metallic is to keep it simple. Simple equals gorgeous when it comes to adding metallic into your wardrobe this season. Again and as always, you want to build on your basics with this trend. Metallic is a fun and modern accent that can be worn by any age group as long as it’s not overdone.
First find the right shade of metallic. What I mean by this is to take a look at the items in your closet to determine whether bronze, silver of gold would work best with what you already have. The classiest way to incorporate metallic into an outfit is to pick the shade that is the closest tone to what you already own. For example, if you wear a lot of neutrals then a bronze or gold shade is the best metallic option as it will blend into your existing items adding the right accent versus standing out and drawing all focus to the metallic. If you plan to wear a lot of white this season, then opt for silver.
Next walk yourself into the accessories department for the easiest way to add metallic into your wardrobe is through a purse, clutch, belt or jewelry. Alternatively shoes are great in metallic and there are plenty of options this season. From flats to platforms and everything in-between.
Lastly, have a little fun. Experiment with many different options and choose what looks and feels best on. This is the tried and true way to build new items into your wardrobe no matter what they are. Once you have the item at home, try on several of your existing outfits with it so you have a few “outfit uniforms” ready when you need to get dressed fast. If you have a fancy cocktail party on your agenda this season then consider the metallic sequined dress. If the thought of this is much too daring for your personal style, then keep your metallic selections in the shoe department.
And…on your way out the door remember to look in the mirror, and smile at that gorgeous reflection looking back at you.
Best-
Andrea
