Put Together Spring Looks

This week we are doing something a little different. Instead of writing about how to incorporate another fashion trend into your wardrobe we will be answering some of our readers’ questions on how to put the looks for spring together. Incorporating new items into your wardrobe can be tough and sometimes it feels like you just can’t get it right so this week we address your questions in an effort to provide the consultation you need right from your computer.

  1. Skinny pants are just not for me. They are not flattering no matter how many pairs I try on. They just don’t work for me. Are there any other options or do I need to sit on the sidelines waiting for the next thing? ANSWER: Do not force something that is just not meant to be. The important thing here is for you to look and feel great. If that is not happening in skinny pants then look around to other alternatives. The other big trend in pants this season is the wide leg pant. Much more accommodating to most of us who don’t have the legs of a super model, these pants are super flattering, fun and sophisticated. Plus, they are available in stores now, from Gap to Nordstrom.
  2. I love the dress and have bought a few of them for spring but I can’t decide what shoes to where with them. Any suggestions? ANSWER: The one stop option for shoes with any dress style is the ballet flat. Find a color that matches the hem of your dress or opt for a metallic. Crystals, buckles and patterns are an option if you are looking to take the ballet flat up a notch. Alternatively, and if you prefer heals, the classic pump or platform pump looks great with dresses of all shapes and sizes.
  3. My friends are saying that it’s ok to wear shorts to work. Is that really true? ANSWER: Yes, its true shorts are no longer just weekend wear. When wearing shorts to the office be sure to only put on tailored Bermuda shorts. These are the shorts that hit just above the knee. Do not go any shorter than this. The great new option for spring 2007 is the matching blazer. Shorts with a matching blazer not only look great but are a wonderful professional option for work.

I hope these answers help you with your wardrobe questions. We love to hear from our readers so please keep these questions coming in! There is no such thing as a bad question. We are here to help you. If you have questions please email them to andrea@practicalvanity.com.

Enjoy the spring season
