Unlocking Your Creativity Tips 7 – 9
If you’ve been following along in this series on unlocking your creativity, you are likely feeling more creative and able to tap into your creativity when you need to. We all have creative potential… it is simply a matter of finding ways to unlock your creative mind and allow the creativity to flow. Here are the last few tips in this series.
7) Exercise – Go for a run or a walk or a yoga class. Let your mind get absorbed in this physical activity. Many times people fall into a meditative state when exercising and this will open a connection to your creative mind.
Brainstorm – Get a few friends or co-workers to brainstorm with you. While I recommend brainstorming in a group, you can also do this alone if necessary. Begin by talking or writing down as many ideas as you can possibly think of. Don’t censor or judge the ideas at first. Just let you mind go and say or write whatever comes into your mind. Remember that even silly ideas are important in the brainstorming phase. You never know how your ideas might spark something in someone else.
9) Use affirmations – How many times have you said, “I’m not creative?” If you are constantly giving your subconscious mind this directive, it won’t be long before your creative mind ceases to engage. You are what you think… so choose thoughts that affirm your creative abilities. Here are some affirmations to help enhance your creativity: I live in the creative flow of life, Creativity flows through me, and I honor my creative abilities.
