Midlife Learning Curve

I spoke to a friend recently who started a new job after a long time in between jobs, and she mentioned the challenge of the learning curve. I feel as though this whole period of midlife is a learning curve. No matter what type of work I do, there is a learning curve. As my work evolves and there is so much out there to learn, technically and otherwise, this seems to escalate for me.

I often feel as though my head is going to explode from all this learning. I always have a tape or CD and now an ipod playing when I am driving, exercising and for the other times when I am able to listen.

My life is a big learning curve, period.

Now I am online daily to learn all I can about many things. I read about growing my business, understanding Alzheimer’s Disease, which is what my mother has, researching ways for the caregiver to take control and responsibility for their own sustenance, and or course organic gardening.

While this ongoing learning is great and really keeps me passionate about living, there is also the shadow side of it. This shadow is where it just gets to be too much.

When that happens, I say “no” to one more business course to take, and go for my daily walk without a sound system plugged into my ears. My meditation practice is helpful, because it is the opportunity to get away from it all!

What is your biggest learning curve right now in midlife?

Until next week,
Lorraine
