Wrapping Up 2007
Here we are wrapping up yet another year. Is it just me, or does it seem like they’re flying by faster each year? Before we let the year come to a complete end, I’d like to encourage you to reflect back and take stock.
To facilitate that process, here are 10 questions to ponder, or for brownie points, jot down the answers:
1. What were your 3 biggest ‘wins’ at work? (accomplishments, shifts,
changes, etc.)
2. What were your 3 biggest personal ‘wins’?
3. What made these wins significant?
4. What were three goals where you fell short of achieving them
(career/personal)?
5. With the goals where you fell short, is it time to let them go (e.g.
trying to fit in your high school jeans), or do you want to continue to work towards achieving them (perhaps a promotion at work)? What can you do differently to make these goals a reality in 2008?
6. In what way was this year better than last year?
7. What are 5 new skills you’ve developed or enhanced?
8. In what way(s) have you strengthened your character?
9. What is time to leave behind with 2007? (e.g. self doubt, playing it
safe, victim thinking, …)
10. What do you absolutely want to bring forward with you next year, as a
result of this year? 11. (e.g. continue to build professional network, complete MBA degree, healthy eating and exercise habits, …)
We always have a choice about what we want to include or remove from our lives, and one of the nice things with New Years, is that it prompts this reflection!
Your assignment, if you choose to accept it, is to spend 3 (or more) ten minute chunks of time reflecting on 2007. So often after we’ve accomplished a milestone, we just look on to the next one without stopping to admire and appreciate what we’ve achieved. My hope is that you’ll take some time to really consider all that you’ve done this year, and celebrate!
Please email me your top 3 successes ( – with ‘my top 3 successes’ in the subject line). I’d love to celebrate with you!
To your success,
Gwyneth Anne
