Happiness Will Meet You
“When you make a deliberate choice to be happy, happiness will meet you.” Dr. Cara Alana
Many people have the mindset that happiness is for other people, or for later in life when everything’s perfect. They’ve stopped believing that happiness is in their reach.
Happiness is always within us, but it’s sometimes trapped under layers of limitations that others (and sometimes we, ourselves) have piled on. As with an artichoke, we have to peel away the layers to get to our joyful heart.
Limits and beliefs have been passed on to us from society and our own families and prevent us from living the fulfilling lives that we are entitled to.
You cannot control other people’s actions (only your own reactions) and you can’t count on other people to make you happy.
You have to truly believe in your own capacity for happiness, and know what will make you happy. That recipe is unique and individual to you; no one else can prescribe it.
How do you learn what makes you happy?
Begin by listening to your inner voice and learn to distinguish between the approval of others and your own happiness.
Hone your intuition by gradually listening to it and following it, even when you’re afraid to do so. Trust yourself and have faith in your developing inner wisdom. Let it guide your way to happiness.
Move away from pessimistic messages and towards a positive outlook. Shift your perspective to see the best in any given situation and guard against negativity. Use positive language.
Next week we will focus one on the most important keys to happiness.
May peace and light be with you,
Cara
