Healthy New Year! Pt 1
2008, doesn’t that sound ominous? We are nearly a decade into the new millennium! The question I have for all of you is “ is getting fitter, leaner, stronger and healthier a new goal for you, or one you proclaimed 8 years ago, 7 years ago, 6 years ago and so on…? Have you achieved your optimal health or is it something you continually are “motivated” to do…but somehow, sometime around mid February, you just don’t seem as fired up as you were in the first week of January? ( or of any year!) How can this year be different for you?
I have a few suggestions and it begins with your belief system. What I mean by this is what do you believe you can actually do? Deep down, do you KNOW you can and will achieve your health goals, are you committed to do whatever it takes to achieve them, or deep down do you have the mindset that you want to achieve them, but you might falter if you have parties, or you are tired, or heaven forbid…there’s chocolate in the room?!
It comes down to the confidence level you have within yourself. I’m sure there are areas in your life in which you are completely solid and powerful…a place which you are a rock and never sway. This area is a place you are completely and wholeheartedly committed to. Tap in to that strength and transfer it to (for now) ONE of your health and fitness goals.
For instance, say you wish to lose 15 pounds. There are many things you can do to get you to this goal, however just take ONE, like eliminating munching at your children’s leftovers, or add in 200 minutes of exercise every week, or choose to have dinner as your lightest meal. Instead of trying to tackle ALL of these, get committed to one that you truly believe you can and WILL achieve.
Start out your New Year with confidence and empower yourself to prove that you are a strong person in the area of health and wellness!
